In addition to a very good breakfast buffet, Embassy Suites has a nice “Manager’s Reception”. Free food and drinks to tide Mikaela over until dinner on East Coast time is a great bonus.

I’m not sure how she did it, but Miriam got us on our way from Philadelphia to New York. She managed to get the powers-that-be at Midwest Airlines to agree to reimburse us for a taxicab from Philly to NYC. So I post this via the power of my cell phone as a modem for my computer from the midst of a $350 cab ride. We should be at our hotel in New York here in a couple of hours. TTFN.
As Mikaela just said, “We’ve had a loooooooonnnnnnngggggg day.”

Yesterday, we were joking with Mikaela, and she was saying that we were going to take a bus to New York. Turns out that she was right. Right now, we’re in a virtually empty Philadelphia airport terminal waiting for luggage to be transferred so that we can take a two-hour bus ride to LaGuardia (and then a cab from there to our hotel).

Weather in New York has closed LaGuardia, and our plane was already low on fuel from circling for an hour. So we’re now on the ground in Philly – originally just for fuel, but now that LaGuardia is closed we’re probably stuck here until NY re-opens. ![]()
The hotel was great – they’re holding our originally booked room for us. And Mikaela has been amazingly patient (though majorly disappointed that we’re not in New York yet).

Happy 34th birthday Matt! Samantha and Mikaela helped Matt blow out his birthday candles, after dinner at Hayward’s.
