Mikaela was very excited for the first night of Chanukah. We explained to her that we would be going to a party tonight (Tuesday night) at Grandma Ted and Zaydie Larry’s house and that there would be candles to light and presents to open. We forgot to take into account a two-year-old’s limited concept of time. As soon as Mikaela figured out that Miriam was driving her to daycare instead of to Grandma & Zaydie’s house, she started shouting, "No Mina’s, go party!!" She calmed down once she saw that her buddy Vaughn and Baby Jack were there at Mina’s to play with.
We celebrated the first night of Chanukah with Bubbie, Matt, Sarah, Samantha, Grandma Ted & Zaydie Larry. Mikaela decided that she liked the sour cream better than the latkes. Ever since her birthday, Mikaela has also developed an appreciation for presents (she’s been trying to open the wrapped presents at Grandma Ted’s for at least a week already). First night highlights included a new porcelain doll for her collection from Uncle Matt, Aunt Sarah, and Baby Sam; a breakfast play set from Grandma Ted & Zaydie Larry; a cute outfit from Bubbie (that matches the outfit Bubbie got for Baby Sam); and real tap shoes from Mommy & Daddy. Mikaela especially enjoyed playing with Baby Sam. She held Sam on her lap and cuddled, hugged, and kissed her throughout the evening.
I’ll be adding pictures to the December 2004 photo album soon, I promise!
