Much to Mikaela’s joy, the end of August also marked the beginning of Mikaela’s Pre-K year at the Jewish Community Center’s Child Development Center. She’s been excited about Pre-K since camp, constantly reminding us that she’s going to start Pre-K in the fall.
Her class is boy-heavy again this year, which seems to just be a demographic quirk of her age group at the CDC. Out of the 19 children in her class, she’s one of just five girls. But she seems happy with it, and she loves her teachers. The lead teacher in her room is Amanda, and Mikaela is very fond of her. A lot of the usual special activities are on hold until after the holidays, but Mikaela was proud to receive one of the first Mitzvah Awards of the year, for helping with clearing lunch dishes without being asked.
