The last time there was an improv festival in Kansas City, you could have seen future stars of
Saturday Night Live and Second City on local comedy stages.
Then they went off and got all famous.
At 7: The KCImprov Festival, professional comedians will return from New York, LA, Chicago and beyond to perform on a single stage. Jason Sudeikis is on weekend furlough from Saturday Night Live. Ed Goodman and Tim Mason are coming home from performing and teaching for The Second City. Jeff Drake is taking a break from writing for TV. They’re joined by top improvisers like 30 Rock writer Kay Cannon and The Ringer’s Bill Chott - and the stars of tomorrow who perform in KC today.
Two weekends of performances at Union Station’s H&R Block City Stage spotlight a dozen different troupes - each with their own hilarious take on being funny without a script. Shows Friday and Saturday, March 23 and 24,will each spotlight four local troupes. Four national acts will play both Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31. Shows start at 7pm. Ticket prices range from $10-20, with discounts for students and groups.
