The last couple of weeks have been kind of slow-going. Our contractor had to finish up another job, then he had child-care issues, and then the fun began. First, he discovered that the shower pan had been made out of about four inches of self-leveling compound (which is only supposed to be used up to 1 inch in depth). Then, they tore up the carpet and discovered that there was no access to the plumbing under the tub (as required by code). So they had to tear out the step (they’ll rebuild it in a way that will allow access later) up to the tub in order to disconnect the faucet and (eventually) to hook up the new faucet. Then they started actually laying tile, and discovered that the walls weren’t square. So every tile laid along the wall had to be individually and precisely measured, cut, and set. Here’s what it looks like, as of this morning:

The pace should start to pick up a bit from here. All of the faucets have been delivered, so we shouldn’t have any more plumbing surprises. Cross your fingers for us!

Aaron, Miriam, and Mikaela,
I miss you all so much! Miriam, I heard that your C-section is scheduled. Amy and I are so excited for you and the new little boy on the way! Amy says hi, and we are really looking forward to seeing you if you are going to be at Thanksgiving at Aunt Marcia’s this year. We would love to see you all!
We will both be home Wednesday-Friday of Thanksgiving weekend, so if Mikaela needs another play buddy, we would love to come play with her!
I love you all very much, and I hope I see you soon! It’s been way too long since I’ve seen you.
Love,
Steph and Amy
