While I was out of town, the remodelers got the new shower enclosure framed in and started putting up cement board (complete with new, un-mold-riddled, insulation behind it). They also completed the new paint job. It’s hard to see from the picture, but we’ve replaced the “Laura Ashley puked all over my bathroom walls” look with a warm beige tone that has a slightly lighter tone glaze over it that gives the walls a bit of texture and depth.
The trip to Milwaukee was good. I got to catch up with a number of GP|Solo Division friends, got my first experience as a presenter on legal technology topics for Continuing Legal Education, and had relatively uneventful travel both ways. Meanwhile, back home in Kansas, we’re beginning to wonder if Mikaela’s body was taken over by aliens. After a pretty rough week behavior-wise leading up to my trip, Mikaela was an ANGEL for Miriam while I was gone. Despite fighting a pretty nasty cold, Mikaela was cooperative, didn’t argue, and even brushed her teeth and put on her jammies completely on her own and put herself to bed (in her own bed) the first time she was asked. I just hope we get a repeat performance this week - I leave tomorrow morning for a trial in Montana.
