Miriam’s buddy Adrian hooked us up with Kansas City Renaissance Festival tickets again this year. We weren’t even sure we were going to go this year, but decided this morning to give it a shot. Mikaela had been on her best behavior lately, and we knew that she’d have fun. It ended up being a great day for all of us.
Mikaela had a blast in the chair swings. It took every bit of persuasion possible to keep it to two rides. Most of the rest of our three hours plus at Ren Fest was consumed with dancing. On our way to lunch, we stumbled across a wandering band of faeries. Mikaela was mesmerized by their dance, and then thrilled when they asked her to come and dance with them. After lunch and that second ride on the swing, we stopped for a breather at what turned out to be a gypsy song and dance show. She joined them on stage at the end of their show, and they told us about the “learn a gypsy dance” session in the children’s area.
Mikaela had a BALL learning the gypsy dance, and playing with the gypsy actor afterwards too. She wouldn’t leave until she gone and given them all hugs. We stayed long enough for her faerie buddies to come to the children’s area to give out “faerie blessings”. After spending some more time playing with her faerie friends, we headed home. We were all exhausted - Mikaela fell asleep in the car on the way home. (Pictures in the September 2006 photo album).
