Mikaela’s Going to Be a Big Sister

Now that Miriam’s had her first prenatal appointment with her new OB/GYN, it’s time we went ahead and shared the news officially - we’re pregnant!  It’s still early - Miriam is 10 weeks in.  Seredipitously, she’s due on her birthday - December 16.  Here’s baby’s first photograph.
It’s hard to make out too much in the ultrasound, but the head is to the right.  You can see an arm just below the head.  As Mikaela says, right now, the baby is “verrrrrrrrrry teeny.”

Mikaela is looking forward to being a big sister.  We first mentioned the possibility to her a few months ago.  We asked her if she’d like to be a big sister, and she said, “Yes, I want a baby sister.”  So we asked her, “how about a baby brother?”  And she paused for a moment.  Then she said, “Hmmmmm.  No thank you.  Just a sister.”  Given the recent family track record, Mikaela may very well get her preference.  But just in case, we’ve been talking to her about it, and she’s warming to the possibility of either a brother OR a sister.
