She’s been asking for a bicycle since the first warm day of the winter when she saw the neighborhood kids on their bikes. She’s really too big for her trike anyway. So we picked up a bike today at Target.
Mikaela even helped me to put it together when we got it home. She patiently kept from touching the parts we hadn’t used yet (well, maybe not so patiently, but she managed - she occupied herself by popping the bubblewrap). And she handed me tools, even keeping the big and the small wrench straight.
She couldn’t wait to go outside and ride. She hopped on as soon as we got it outside, and she worked until she could ride (with the training wheels, of course). And, much like with the skates last Spring, as soon as she got one good pass in, that was enough. She had conquered. She was ready to go inside. It does, however, look like she’ll be ready to take another go at it on the next warm day when the other kids are outside riding their bikes.
