Kickball

Mikaela had a special new treat this afternoon. When we got home, the bigger neighborhood kids were out in the cul-de-sac playing. They invited her to play kickball with them, and for the first time, she actually sort of played a game. She showed off her ability to catch and throw a ball. She went out in the field with her team, and chased after the ball with the kids on the other team kicked it. She retrieved the ball and threw it back to the pitcher. She took her turn to kick and ran toward first base after she kicked the ball. She waited for her turn to come back around while her teammates kicked. Even though she only lasted about two innings, it was a pretty impressive showing for a not-quite-three-year-old
And she knows how old she is now too - when you ask her how old she is, she says that she’ll be three on October seven.
