A Great Day

I just had to post because we had such a great day today.  Nothing particularly special, but just a really fun day overall.  It had been a bit of a rough week - all three of us have been fighting allergies and a little nagging illness.  But today all of that was forgotten as we enjoyed our day together.

First, after having an unusually rough night getting to bed last night, Mikaela actually slept in.  We all slept until about 9 a.m.  We spent a relaxed morning watching some Mary Poppins and playing.  Miriam got some yard work done.  Mikaela got to play with her next door neighbor (and elementary school aged idol) Hannah for a while.  Shortly after lunch (and putting up a brief fight), Mikaela took a nap.  When she woke up from her nap, Mikaela and I played until Miriam got back from the grocery store.

Then we all changed into swimsuits and headed to the JCC to go swimming.  We swam for a good two hours - including running into cousin Riley (that’s KC cousin Riley, as opposed to Dallas cousin Rylei) at the pool.  Mikaela played on the Frog Slide, walked across the lilly pads, blew bubbles, and even jumped into the water and put her head under!  When it was time to go, Mikaela came along perfectly agreeably (as opposed an end-of-swimming tantrum).  It probably helped that we promised ice cream.  Mikaela asked for pizza for dinner as soon as we got into the car, so we headed to Uno’s and had pizza (with ice cream for dessert).

Back home after dinner, Mikaela got her hair washed with a minimum of fuss.  Then changed into her PJs and sat down on the sofa to watch The Great Muppet Caper.  As the movie began, Mikaela got a mani/pedi courtesy of Miriam (with RED polish).  The movie ended and Mikaela headed up to bed.  Much of the day really wasn’t anything "special", but all in all it was a really wonderful day.
