Last weekend was a truly crazy weekend around our house. I have developed a really nice group of friends throught the Tivocommunity.com discussion boards. A few months ago, a couple of other local KC board members and I decided that it might be fun to get a bunch of people together here in KC to meet in real life. We figured we might end up with a dozen or so people. Boy did we underestimate! At last count, I believe we had as many as 30 people who joined us at one time or another over the weekend.
The largest crowd gathered at our house on Friday night for KC BBQ from Jack Stack in Martin City. That night, we had ten people who stayed the night here with us - in addition to the three of us. There were two other children that were just a bit older than Mikaela who stayed here, and Mikaela had a good time playing with them too (with the exception of the rather unfortunate "Shoegate" incident). Saturday included a trip to the Kemper Gallery (including lunch at Sebastienne) and dinner and jazz at Majestic Steakhouse. We wrapped up with about seven of us braving the heat at the Royals game (woo hoo - I finally got to witness a Royals win in person. I think it’s been three years since that happened).
All in all, it was a fun weekend and everyone was as much fun in person as they have been online. With the exception of our poor overworked air conditioner, we all came out of the weekend no worse for the wear. (And with some very nice gifts from our gracious guests).
